Simone Ashley took to social media this week, speaking out for the first time since it was announced that her role in the highly anticipated film F1 The Movie was cut from the final product. And based on the kind sentiment behind her words, there’s no bad blood, and she remains grateful for the experience.

Ashley’s latest Instagram post featured a couple of snapshots of the phenomenal Balmain gown she wore for the red carpet premiere, which took place in London, England. Her fashion-forward ensemble consisted of a sleeveless bright gold peplum top attached to a straight skirt, which elongated down to her ankles. The pattern of the gown featured raised fabric made to resemble popped-out braids and twists—a unique, textured design that Ashley wore exceptionally well.

She accessorized the monochrome gold look further with a pair of hoop earrings, a glittering watch and a pair of matching open-toed strappy heels. Her hair and makeup were also equally praise-worthy, with her black hair styled with loose, wavy curls that looked remarkable as they blew in the breeze. As for her makeup, she went with a natural glam look that included clean but sharp eyebrows, lightly fluffed eyelashes and a neutral lip.

“It was a joy to reunite with the cast and crew, and to celebrate—I couldn’t have been prouder watching everyone shine on screen and on the carpet,” the actress wrote in the caption of a recent Instagram post, emphasizing that this red carpet moment was a much-needed reunion with her former cast and crew members.

Although Ashley’s removal from the 2025 project came as a shock to her fans and those who have been following the production from the very beginning, it was not a total surprise for the 30-year-old actress, who was told before the official trailers dropped to keep her in the loop.

“It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use,” director Joseph Kosinski revealed to PEOPLE with regards to why Ashley was cut. “There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn’t make it into the final cut.”

And there’s a good chance that this isn’t the last time Kosinki will collaborate with the Bridgerton actress, as he noted that he is more than willing to work with her once more.

“She’s an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer—and I would love to work with her again,” he concluded.
