Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus were dripping in gold on the Stade de France stage in Paris, France, this week.

The vocal powerhouses gave fans quite the shock when they took the stage for a performance of “II Most Wanted” from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album. Beyoncé wore a gold asymmetrical mini dress with gold high-heeled boots, while Cyrus wore a gold sleeveless jumpsuit with patterned gold booties to match.

Cyrus also took to social media to celebrate this momentous occasion, writing, “@Beyonce to be beside such a humble, gracious, legendary DIVA was a dream come true. Thank you for the opportunity to perform in Paris together & sing our song about friendship. To have learned from you & loved you my whole life, & then be standing together in matching gold looks is more than I could’ve imagined.”

And there were certainly some watery eyes in the crowd when “II Most Wanted” was performed, as the song is all about having a ride-or-die person you can always count on. Cyrus—who wrote the tune years before its release—wanted the song to have that vibe. She also saw it as the perfect country song to capture her and Beyoncé’s relationship, which was brought on by a funny coincidence.

“Her mom [is] Ms. Tina, [and] my mom is also an M.T.: Mama Tish. A lot of people call her ‘mom’ in the way that Ms. Tina is almost not just a mother to Beyoncé, but to Beyoncé’s fans as well.” Cyrus told Rolling Stone. “Both of us grew up, in our own way, with moms who were everything. My mom was my makeup, hair, seamstress, styling, tour manager—like, the actual manager. The word ‘mother’ is the most all-encompassing word. The mother can be RuPaul; the mother can be Beyoncé. Our fans call us ‘mother.’”

The “Give Me Love” singer also believes she and Beyoncé share the same outlook on country music.

“I wrote that song like two and a half years ago,” Cyrus said. “My mom would always go, ‘I love that song so much.’ So when Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship. I told her, ‘We don’t have to get country; we are country. We’ve been country.’”

Cyrus also added, “I said, ‘You know, between you being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so much of us is going to be in this song.’ Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyoncé was a dream come true.”

With the continued love for the song, it’s safe to say “II Most Wanted” will go down as a cherished tune for many—especially these two music icons.
