In the world of gymnastics, injuries happen all the time—and the same can be said for filming TikToks with a trending sound. Olivia Dunne certainly knows this, as she recently experienced it in the most unfortunate way.

Anything for the Tok

The retired gymnast took to her TikTok account this week to try a viral challenge, which the model revealed was more difficult than it originally appeared.

The trend involved doing a handstand on cue to Ocho Drippin’s catchy tune, “F**k It Up.” While she posted a later attempt that worked perfectly, in the first attempt—which she posted second—Dunne admitted that she unfortunately sustained a small injury, as per her caption, which read, “Broke my toenail for the tok.“ However, in true Dunne fashion, she still managed to land the move despite her minor setback.

The second time around was clearly the charm. For her second attempt, the 23-year-old pulled off the move without breaking a sweat—or another nail. In her caption, she joked about her initial attempt, writing, “This definitely only took one try.“

Working through injuries

Underneath the second TikTok, a commenter wrote, “Paul has the best life possible,” referring to Dunne’s boyfriend, Paul Skenes. Quick-witted, she replied, “Let’s see if he can fix a broken toenail.”

While it’s unclear if the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher has the skills to mend a chipped nail, what’s not unclear is Dunne’s ability to bounce back, no matter how many times she gets injured. Case in point: her 2025 SI Swimsuit cover feature.

On set with the SI Swimsuit team in Bermuda, Dunne had to power through a fractured kneecap while kneeling in the sand. She recounted her experience with Stephanie McMahon during an episode of the What’s Your Story? podcast back in August.

“So, there’s a crazy backstory to that photo, actually,” the retired gymnast recalled while looking at her Bermuda snapshots. “I was kneeling in the sand right there with a fractured kneecap because it was in the middle of gymnastics season.”

Despite how she was feeling at the moment, Dunne still showed up ready to slay. Her positive mental attitude and steadfastness are certainly evident in her Bermuda cover photo shoot with the brand. Be it in her bedroom or on the warm sands of a tropical island, Dunne isn’t going to let anything—not even a broken nail or fractured kneecap—slow her down.
