With baby number three on the way, Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky will once again have to decide on a name for their child. However, for this couple, the baby naming process goes off without a hitch because they’re always on the same page thanks to a single shared trait.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly on the carpet for the upcoming Smurfs film, the singer and mogul revealed that she and A$AP Rocky never argue over baby names because the one they choose must always begin with the letter “R.” This is not only in line with their own names, but also the names of their first two children: three-year-old Rza Athelston Mayers and one-year-old Riot Rose Mayers.

“It’s always going to be an ‘R’ name,” Rihanna said. "That’s the one thing me and Rocky don’t fight over.”

Still, while the couple knows what letter the name will start with, it’s unclear if the two have decided on the inspiration behind the third baby’s name. Their first child was named after her and A$AP Rocky’s favorite Wu-Tang Clan member GZA. As for thier second child, his name was inspired by the song “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)” by A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams. In fact, it was Williams who suggested the name.

“He gave us this name thinking it was going to be a girl because he had seen something online,” Rihanna told Harper’s Bazaar in February. ”Pharrell is very deep. He’s not surface. He will never say anything and just leave it there with a full stop.”

As it turned out, Williams hit the nail on the head when it came to his recommendation, as the name ended up being an accurate description of their second child’s personality, with Rihanna also noting that Riot can be quite the rambunctious child.

“[Riot]’s just hilarious. When he wakes up, he starts to squeal, scream. Not in a crying way. He just wants to sing. And I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go!’” She continued. “He’s my alarm in the morning! He’s not taking no for an answer from anyone. I don’t know where he came from, dude.”

As for her and A$AP Rocky’s first-born, he’s the complete opposite of his little brother, with the singer stating, “RZA is just an empath. He’s so magical. He loves music. He loves melody. He loves books. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach—anything.”

With baby number three due before the end of 2025, the world will soon know which “R” name the parents chose this time!
