Here’s the Truth Behind Those Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge Engagement Rumors

Fresh off the conclusion of her Guts World Tour, Olivia Rodrigo is showing no signs of slowing down. Not only did she tease her third studio album during her performance at the Osheaga Festival earlier this month, but she also just announced on Aug. 12 that she’ll be releasing a tour book.

Plus, many are now convinced she’s taking a big step in her personal life, too. In new photos obtained by the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old Grammy Award winner can be seen wearing what looks to be a diamond on her ring finger while stepping out with longtime boyfriend Louis Partridge. The two were photographed walking in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Rodrigo was seen wearing an edgy plaid mini dress and sandals, while Partridge wore a graphic t-shirt, shorts and sandals. But, of course, their outfits were not the highlight of their latest public outing, as fans quickly zoomed in on Rodrigo’s ring finger. As seen in the pic above, the ring—engagement or not—is massive.

As expected, the photos have circulated across social media, with Rodrigo’s biggest fans pointing out a glaring issue with the engagement rumor: She’s seemingly worn the ring before. In fact, as pointed out by X user @liviesthinker, it looks like the singer has even spoken about the piece of bling during a video for GQ titled “10 Things Olivia Rodrigo Can’t Live Without.”

“My makeup artist on High School Musical [The Musical: The Series], I was filming this show, and I was really close with her, and she helped me through a lot. And she got me this ring when we wrapped, and it says, ‘Write the songs of your heart,’ and on the inside it says, ‘Love, Heidi and Dottie June,’ which is her dog,” Rodrigo shared in the clip seen above while showing off the ring—which actually isn’t even a diamond.

Comparing the GQ video and the new paparazzi shots, the ring looks to be the same, so much so that a tweet sharing the engagement rumor now even has a community note attached, which reads, “Olivia Rodrigo has been wearing this ring since she was a teenager, long before meeting her now boyfriend Louis Partridge.”

So, it’s safe to say that if Rodrigo and Partridge are engaged, she’s not wearing an engagement ring to prove it. It’s more than likely the pair has not taken the next big step, but that doesn’t take away from how adorable and happy they are together.

The singer and actress were first linked in 2023, but didn’t make their red carpet debut as a couple until 2024. Since then, they’ve kept their relationship relatively private, but are seen out together regularly, whether it be out on a stroll or at a public event.
