Zendaya and Robert Pattinson Share Shocking Secrets in New ‘The Drama’ Trailer

Figuring out a seat chart is the least of this engaged couple’s problems.

It goes without saying that planning a wedding is already stressful.

Between coordinating, multitasking, communicating and shopping, it’s enough to drive anyone a little bananas—and that’s not even accounting for the possibility that your future spouse is harboring a shocking secret. Zendaya and Robert Pattinson know this all too well, as depicted in the latest trailer for their upcoming A24 film, The Drama, which dropped Monday, Feb. 2, following the first teaser released back in December.

Breaking down the new trailer

While the teaser was all about setting the mood, the first full-length trailer gave moviegoers a better feel for the plot of the highly anticipated film, which is described as a “romantic comedy drama.” On the surface, Zendaya and Pattinson play an engaged couple planning their wedding. They attend appointments, take snapshots and do all the typical things couples do as they prepare for that long walk down the aisle.

However, their nearly-newlywed bliss takes an unexpected turn while enjoying drinks with a fellow couple, who revealed that, before they were married, they decided to tell each other “the worst thing they’d ever done.” They go around the table as those in attendance laugh off their past transgression, joking about any havoc they might have once wreaked. That is, until they got to Zendaya. What her character disclosed wasn’t shared with viewers yet, but from her onscreen friends’ and partner’s reaction, it was something truly horrific.

The trailer then took a radical turn from comedy to thriller, with Pattinson spending the rest of the runtime grappling with the mysterious yet devastating information, all while the two awkwardly try to move forward with their plans to tie the knot. Alongside the new trailer, Zendaya also shared the latest posters for the film, which show the couple on their special day, as well as their horrified faces in the subsequent snapshots.

Fans (and famous friends) can’t get enough

Fans were already pumped to see all the twists and turns promised in the short teaser released a month or so ago, and the latest trailer has only heightened their excitement. Followers and famous friends flooded Zendaya’s comment section on Instagram to share their thoughts and praise:

“i am way too excited for this!!!!” Chloe Bailey penned.

“Zendaya in her in villain era is absolute cinema 🙂‍↕️,” one user noted.

“i’ll be watching this trailer on repeat for the foreseeable future…” another added.

“now THIS is a trailer,” a commenter concluded. “WTF did [Zendaya] do?!?! 😭😭😭😭😭”

While we absolutely share the above sentiment, we’ll unfortunately have to wait until the movie premieres to find out. With that in mind, be sure to RSVP to your local theater and catch The Drama when it debuts on April 3!
