Bella Hadid Glows in 1970s-Style Patterned Ensemble for ‘Dazed MENA’ Cover

Bella Hadid is right where she belongs: on the front page of a magazine. The Palestinian American supermodel recently posed for the cover of DAZED MENA ahead of the publication’s first anniversary edition.
Styling & glam
“Celebrating its one-year anniversary, Dazed MENA releases an extra special cover story starring supermodel Bella Hadid,” the magazine wrote. “It’s a celebration of firsts. Bella Hadid’s first cover in the region in almost a decade and first DAZED cover, just as her beauty brand Orebella launches in the GCC.”
For the snapshot, Hadid dressed in gorgeous, vibrant hues. She sported a light teal and green patterned piece with multicolored artwork throughout that served up serious 1970s vibes, and the silver metallic headscarf atop her head helped to further channel that aesthetic.
The same sentiment applied to her supplemental cover, as she stunned in a pink and nude mini dress adorned with a beautiful brooch chain going across her body. In both snapshots, Hadid’s fiery gaze was as fierce as ever.
A special moment
This shoot marked Hadid’s first cover in the Middle East in almost a decade. Without a doubt, her homecoming was coupled with several amazing accomplishments and touching moments. Case in point: the fact that Hadid’s longtime friend, Yasmine Diba, directed her incredible DAZED MENA feature.
Hadid and the Iranian American photographer have known one another since they were children. All the more reason why Diba watching her childhood friend blossom into who she is today was quite sentimental. “@bellahadid thank you for your bravery and always speaking up for what’s right,” Diba penned on Instagram. “I learn from you everyday.”
From the archives
Working alongside Hadid and Diba was Ashling Sarveen Massoumi, who served as the style director on the shoot. As seen in the stills, Massoumi’s aesthetic is one-of-a-kind. The visionary takes today’s most popular fashion trends and blends them with her own unique take on style.
All of the items in Hadid’s wardrobe—such as the metallic headscarf—showcased the style director’s keen eye for rare finds. For the first cover, Massoumi archived the Endora Silk Bondage hand-painted gown from Michael & Hushi’s 2003 “Icons” collection, while the fabulous headscarf was personally done by Houston creative, Real Life As Liv. The second cover’s look—the Cold Shoulder Googoosh Bondage Silk Burnout Dress—was from the same collection.
Massoumi, Diba and countless other talented individuals from all over the world collaborated flawlessly to make Hadid’s DAZED MENA cover a special moment to remember. “This one means a lot… thinking about this day makes me emotional,” Hadid said in gratitude toward the team. “I am so grateful for each and every one of these humans that made this happen.”
