Charli XCX Is Almost Unrecognizable in New Hair Looks for ‘A Rabbit’s Foot’ Feature

For her December 2025 cover feature with A Rabbit’s Foot, Charli XCX traded in her party-girl aesthetic for Old Hollywood starlet vibes.
The first thing to notice about the “party 4 u” singer’s style shake-up is the multiple new ‘dos. In several photos, instead of her signature long, wavy dark brown hair, she sported a short bob with soft curls. The romantic new style was accompanied by a charming makeup look, which included a dramatic winged eyeliner, a nude lip and a chiseled eyebrow.
In other snapshots, Charli XCX ditched the dark tresses altogether for blonde hair. The voluminous style made her look nearly unrecognizable—so much so that she resembles her photo shoot’s muse, Monica Vitti, rather than the Grammy Award-winner the world knows and loves. Her style switcheroo for this feature is impressive, to say the least.
And her newfound appreciation for film isn’t only seen on her cover, as the musician also shared with the publication that her fascination has evolved to the point where she has toyed with the idea of potentially making her own films.
After viewing Takashi Miike’s Imprint, Charli XCX reached out to the film director to feed her ever-curious nature. Following her inquiry, she told A Rabbit’s Foot, “I never thought he’d respond, but he did, we had a Zoom, and are now on this project. I just want to make the movies I love watching.”
Still, diving headfirst into the world of film doesn’t come without its risks. The United Kingdom native decided to be brave but careful as she approaches this new and exciting venture. The reason for her cautious nature? She doesn’t want to find herself making the same mistakes in film that she felt she made early in her music career, saying, “I’ve paid the price for some decisions in music, and I don’t want to do that with film, because I love film much more than music.“
She went on, adding, “I’ve been on the same hamster wheel since I was 15. I don’t feel the danger with music anymore. I’m in control of every aspect of my music—the sound, my image, the performing. But with cinema, I have to surrender myself to someone else’s vision.”
In her closing statements, Charli XCX’s reflections speak to her innate love of creation, expressing that if she weren’t doing something innovative, she might cease to exist. All the more reason why her pivot to filmmaking is more than just to look cool (a subject she discusses in her December 2025 Subtack story).
“Look, you might think I’m being dramatic, but I talk to my husband about this all the time. I want to feel life on overload, at full speed. If I couldn’t create, I would die. Someone might say, ‘She’s over the top,’ but the past five years, I’ve been frustrated with my music rollout. I hate going on tour—it’s monotonous,“ the artist added. “I like to be in the throes of creation constantly. This is honestly what keeps me alive.”
