The supermodel stepped out in her usual New York City street style, and we noticed some shiny new footwear.

Emily Ratajkowski is a trend-setter, not a follower. Step aside, Adidas Sambas, there’s a new neutral sneaker in town, and it’s backed by the Instagram fashionista herself. The SI Swimsuit model recently stepped out in versatile black Puma sneakers, which has us wondering if this is the start of a whole new wave of fame for the shoe brand.

The 32-year-old paired the Palermo sneakers with washed black pinstripe jeans and a boxy-fit caramel brown shearling jacket and accessorized with her signature sleek black oval-shaped sunglasses.

These sneakers also come in a white with black decals version, as well as a light style with gray logos, all featuring a gum sole. The classic vintage silhouette debuted in the early 1980s and became a street shoe staple, especially amongst the crowds in British soccer stadiums. They can be easily dressed up with a maxi skirt and knit sweater, or made casual with jeans and a T-shirt. Keep them clean, and you can even wear them to work!

The My Body author’s style is ever-changing, but it remains effortlessly chic, unique, comfortable and certainly newsworthy.

“When I started modeling full-time, I felt intimidated by fashion. I felt there were so many rules,” she shared. “But as I grew up and became more comfortable with myself, more of a woman, I was like, ‘This can be fun.’ Breaking the rules intentionally, understanding the history of fashion in the way I hadn’t before. Pulling from that.”

Ratajkowski now lives by the philosophy that “rules are meant to be broken” and she takes style far less seriously than she ever did before.
