Dearica Hamby is celebrating National Women’s and Girls in Sports Day with a handful of new teammates. The 32-year-old Los Angeles Sparks forward has joined retailer Ulta Beauty as a member of its debut “Ulta Beauty Roster” alongside Anna Leigh Waters, Emma Navarro, Madisen Skinner, Midge Purce and Vanita Krouch.

In addition to the athlete-led collaboration, the beauty brand also revealed the launch of its “Roster for Change Grants,” which is “designed to provide critical support to local communities and sports organizations in need,” per a press release.

“I only partner with brands that represent my own personal values and allow me to authentically be me, and I think it’s so important for young girls to have strong role models and support growing up,” Hamby told SI Lifestyle on the feat.

The two-time WNBA All-Star (2021, 2022) and back-to-back Sixth Woman of the Year winner (2019, 2020) returned to Unrivaled’s Vinyl Basketball Club for her second season with the 3-on-3 league this winter and is approaching her 12th WNBA season (and fourth with the Los Angeles franchise). Hamby, who recently co-authored a children’s book, is also a 2022 WNBA champion, having earned the title with the Las Vegas Aces.

“I didn’t start playing basketball until high school, and I never thought the game would take me this far,” the athlete continued. “So now, whether it’s stepping up for my team, prioritizing self-care or balancing motherhood, I want to advocate for better support for women—not only in the league but for girls of all ages and across all avenues.”
