On Wednesday night, cosmetic powerhouse e.l.f. Beauty and Hailey Bieber’s makeup and skincare brand rhode announced a groundbreaking partnership that will shift the future trajectory of both industry moguls.

According to e.l.f. Beauty’s May 28 press release, the brand “signed a definitive agreement to acquire rhode” in a whopping 1 billion dollar deal “comprised of $800 million of consideration payable at closing [...] and an additional potential earnout consideration of $200 million based on the future growth of the brand over a three-year timeframe.”

e.l.f. Chairman and CEO Tarang Amin also provided a statement in the release, saying, “rhode further diversifies our portfolio with a fast-growing brand that makes the best of prestige accessible. We are excited by rhode’s ability to break beauty barriers, fully aligning with e.l.f. Beauty’s vision to create a different kind of company.”

Amid this exciting announcement, Bieber took to the Los Angeles streets in style. The rhode founder, who debuted the highly coveted brand in 2022, sported a black bodycon strapless dress with matching black closed-toed pumps and skinny black sunnies for a well-deserved night out.

The team at rhode gushed with excitement over their new chapter with e.l.f. Beauty, sharing their perspective on the collaboration with Vogue.

“Hailey’s vision and innate understanding of what consumers want in a product, coupled with our incredible team and innovative marketing approach, has enabled our exponential growth. I can’t wait to see what the bright future looks like with e.l.f. Beauty,” rhode’s co-founder, president and chief brand officer Lauren Ratner told the publication.

Bieber herself also broke down some of the secrets behind the brand’s booming success with the outlet, which she graced the cover of just over a week ago, explaining what led the brand to $212 million in net sales from March 2024 to 2025.

“The success comes down to a combination of things that my team and I have set out to execute from the beginning,” Bieber shared with Vogue. “We’ve been very strategic about product, marketing and creating tasteful, exciting experiences that are outside of the box. I don’t want to be like anybody else.”

And in a sentimental message on Instagram, Bieber shouted out the collective of individuals who made this incredible partnership possible.

“Thank you to the amazing rhode team who have helped me build over the years. I couldn’t have done it without all of you,” Bieber wrote. “And to our rhode community, thank you for being the most supportive and for being on this journey, this next chapter is going to be even more incredible together!”
