Ilona Maher Reminds Fans She’s a Multifaceted Olympian in Cute Floral Set

Don’t let the beautiful muscles fool you. Ilona Maher knows just how to flaunt her stuff in a pretty dress, embodying all the things that make her feel feminine and strong at the same time. Of course, she won’t hesitate to tackle anyone down if the situation calls for it, even if she is in a skirt.
Maher took to her Instagram to show her fans her multifaceted nature, which she channeled into an outfit. Her attire consisted of a light pink two-piece set. A short sleeve blouse with ruffles on the hem and the ends of the sleeves, paired with a flowy maxi skirt, produced a charming ensemble that is utterly lovely. The set was made even better with the inclusion of gorgeous hot pink floral designs spread all throughout.
It wouldn’t be a Maher outfit if she didn’t include her signature bold lip. The professional athlete’s glam for this look was the perfect finisher to an already marvelous number. In addition to her deep pink lipstick, she touched up her eyelashes to make them appear voluminous and fluffy. As for her eyes, a light brush of pink eyeshadow made her eyelids as warm and inviting as ever.
Hands down, Maher slayed this look. Her fans held the same sentiment, as they gave this look their stamps of approval in the comments section.
“Ferocious AND feminine 🔥,” one user expressed underneath her post.
“As a father of 3 daughters, thanks for showing you can be strong too,” another fan shared.
“She is beauty she is grace, she will make you land on your face 💗💁🏼♀️,” another comment wrote.
As seen by these comments, the Olympian has been a role model for many in the way that she defies stereotypes. In the sports world, muscles can be seen as a more masculine attribute, and for the female athletes who have a bulkier figure, their femininity tends to be written off. Nevertheless, remarkable individuals like Maher prove these clichés wrong time and time again.
“My message was—and it’s my message throughout whatever I do—is that female athletes, specifically muscular, big female athletes, can still be very beautiful and sexy and elegant,” Maher said in a recent interview with the Dancing With the Stars Podcast.
She continued, “I play a very tough sport, rugby, where we’re thought of as, at times, just manly and I wanted to show I can go on the floor and do a Viennese Waltz, so that more people can do that. Because I think especially in dance, too. It was so cool to see all the comments of girls who were like, 'Oh, I stopped dancing because I didn't feel like my body type was made for it and then I saw [Maher] dance.'"
Whether in her rugby uniform or in a graceful dress, Maher isn’t letting anyone but herself define what femininity and beauty means to her. Because of this, young girls are inspired to do the same.
