There are a handful of collections I eagerly anticipate all New York Fashion Week, including Khaite, Ralph Lauren, The Row and Prabal Gurung, but the LaQuan Smith runway show consistently reigns as one of the most exciting and sexy of the week. Last night at Skylight by Essex Crossing in lower Manhattan, Smith brought nightlife glamour to the catwalk.
Strong structured crocodile suiting, hip-baring mini skirts and pants flashing a bit of butt cheek reinforced Smith's ability to push boundaries. The collection, the music pounding through the venue and the models power strutting (the only way to describe the force they walked with) all felt very futuristic. Smith even debuted some menswear, and while those looks felt genderless, they gave his ultra sexy skimpy womenswear a nice contrast, almost to say “she can do (wear) both.”
Models wore blackout sunglasses, ornate custom jewelry by Austin James Smith, and pin straight sleek hair to complement Smith’s ready-to-wear collection.
Here’s a quick glance at the collection:

Crip, classic and a bit of a new look from Smith. The subtle hints of undone make this an effortless and elevated outfit.
