Maddy Westbeld knows how to turn a tunnel into a runway.

Ahead of the Chicago Sky’s Aug. 1 game against the Valkyries, the rookie forward stepped out in a look that had everyone talking. The 23-year-old rocked sheer burgundy striped tights layered over an opaque panel underwear, perfectly paired with a cropped beige trench jacket. The ensemble created an edgy-meets-elegant silhouette, punctuated by matching burgundy heels that gave the illusion of seamless footed tights.

Her glam was glowy and summery, while her long natural curls framed her face with effortless softness. Dainty rings adorned her fingers, while a pendant necklace delicately highlighted her collarbones.

“only designed for divine ears,” the athlete captioned an Instagram carousel showing off her leggy new look. She power posed in the cover snap and was filmed shifting from pose to pose in the second slide with her powerful figure and supermodel-esque smize on full display.

“who allowed dis,” Olivia Miles commented.

“This is my fav 😋,” Jillian Hayes wrote.

“My girl 🔥,” her stylist Desiree Olavarrieta chimed.

“Cutttiieeeee,” Derica Hamby added.

For Westbeld, these viral tunnel fits are more than just fashion. “I try to not do too much [while] still getting a good message across,” she told SI Swimsuit earlier this season. That philosophy is evident in how she balances powerful silhouettes with approachable styling, always elevating without overcomplicating.

The Ohio native has been making waves both on and off the court since being drafted 16th overall in April. The Notre Dame standout’s rookie year comes during a breakout moment for women’s sports, with the WNBA enjoying record-breaking viewership and heightened cultural influence. ESPN’s coverage of the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever earlier this season drew an average of 2.7 million viewers, peaking at 3.1 million—the most-watched regular-season game in network history.

Westbeld is embracing that visibility, using fashion to amplify her presence. “You can say we are walking billboards and many powerful women are the hot commodity right now,” she said. “The W is the perfect hub.”

She’s also part of a rare sister duo in the league. Kathryn Westbeld, her older sister and “greatest role model,” plays for the Phoenix Mercury. The two first faced off in a headline-making matchup in May and again earlier this week. “The respect level of our relationship has only grown, especially since both of us are playing in the W now,” Maddy added.
