Margot Robbie Shares Story of Friends’ Intense Reaction During ‘Wuthering Heights’ Screening

The gothic romance is slated for release just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Margot Robbie is officially off on another press tour, and we’re all winners as a result.

The actress has become known for her incredible red carpet looks while promoting films, with her style team typically theming her ensembles to whichever movie she’s starring in at the time (think her vintage looks for Barbie). For her current designer duds, Robbie is embracing a moodier, edgier aesthetic in conjunction with the release of the upcoming gothic romance Wuthering Heights.

She’s already rocked a couple of gorgeous ensembles this week alone—including this breathtaking all-black Roberto Cavalli look—and she continued the trend while stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she also shared a story about the wild reaction her friends had to a screening of the new movie.

Her latest look

In a series of snapshots shared by the actress’s stylist, Andrew Mukamal, on Instagram, Robbie could be seen walking down the street in a semi-sheer black lace number from Alexander McQueen by Seán McGirr.

The piece channeled the same gothic-era energy expected from the press tour, thanks to the intricate lace, long sleeves and high neckline. Still, the ensemble featured a modern twist courtesy of some sensational details, like the daringly dipped front and the handkerchief hem-style skirt. The outfit was then elevated further with silver earrings and a pair of black strappy heels.

The actress’s long blonde hair was left mostly down, styled in soft curls with a couple of sections swooped up in the back for a timeless final look. Her glam was equally delicate, spotlighting rosy mauve on the cheeks, natural eyebrows and a glossy lip.

An intense reaction

As noted above, Robbie donned this dreamy ensemble for her appearance on the late-night talk show earlier this week, where she chatted with Kimmel about the highly anticipated release. During the interview, the actress revealed that her friends actually threw her character, Catherine Earnshaw, a themed bachelorette party as part of their group screening—and things may have gotten a little out of control.

“Just to put this into context, it’s like 20 women were, like, frothing at the mouth. They were like rabid dogs,” Robbie told Kimmel of the experience. “They were a couple of drinks in already, and then the movie started, and they were screaming so much. I was like, ‘They’re missing most of the movie.’”

She also joked that her friends had a particularly intense reaction to her co-star, Jacob Elordi, later teasing, “And when Jacob came on screen, I think it registered on the Richter scale. They screamed so loud. Honestly, I was like, ‘If he walked in right now, I think they would eat him. It’s safer that he’s not here.’”
