In November, Paul Skenes was named the National League Cy Young Award winner, and just over two months later, he attended the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) Awards Dinner in New York City to accept the award alongside some of baseball’s brightest stars.

Among its talented guest list were American League Most Valuable Player Aaron Judge, National League MVP Shohei Ohtani and American League Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal. Also in the audience was Skenes’s longtime partner, Olivia Dunne, who cheered for the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher in a chic, one-shoulder gown.

“winner winner cy young dinner!!!” Dunne wrote in a post shared on Instagram, alongside a few frames of her and Skenes on location. Its cover image showed Skenes, a 6-foot-6 California native, holding his award in one hand, the other wrapped around Dunne.

The duo—who first connected as students at Louisiana State University—were all smiles in their evening ensembles. They both also donned rich maroon hues in their nighttime looks, with Dunne wearing a velvet burgundy gown and Skenes opting to rep the color on the trim of his suit.

Plus, the retired collegiate gymnast showcased the same shade in her glam, created by makeup artist Bryan Zaragoza. In a pair of snaps posted by the artist, Dunne sported a similar crimson color on her cheeks and a glossy mauve pout to match her head-turning maxi dress.

“Barbie girl!!! & go Paul ❤️,” one commenter penned on Dunne’s seven-slide carousel.

XANDRA, who joined Dunne in Baton Rouge for an LSU football game in September, also chimed in, writing, “Ur perfect,” to which Dunne responded with, “come to a game with me this szn.”

Although baseball fans will need to hang tight for a couple more months until the MLB’s Opening Day in late March, Skenes shared some words of wisdom to those who tuned into the celebratory night in the Big Apple.

While accepting the Cy Young Award, the athlete concluded his speech with this piece of advice. “To whoever’s watching, I want to say this: no matter where you come from, no matter how long the road feels, no matter how many times you hear, ‘not yet’ or ‘not possible,’ keep going,” Skenes stated. “But on your work, trust the process, and don’t let anyone else define your ceiling. I’m here right now because I don’t understand the word ‘can’t.’”
