Rihanna is one of the few A-list celebrities who is known for her fun and unbothered style that is so uniquely her. The singer isn’t someone whose aesthetic can be swayed by passing trends and fads—but she still never ceases to impress.

The mom of two, who shares her sons RZA and Riot with rapper and partner A$AP Rocky, proved her impeccable styling skills with her latest look in New York City on Oct. 9. She blended a few different materials, silhouettes and textures—her preferred method of adding some personal flair to an outfit—rather than amping it up with colors and prints.

The 35-year-old stayed comfortable and appropriately dressed for fall in a massive double-breasted charcoal maxi coat paired it with Balenciaga’s polarizing signature black tights that turn into pointed-toe stilettos.

The Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty founder is also clearly aware that red is the “it color” right now, as she accessorized with an oversized burgundy Bottega Veneta bag and a blinding diamond necklace. Her nails were long and painted a fiery red shade and she completed the look with chunky rectangle-shaped sunglasses.

“You put some clothes on, and it’s like, when you look good, you feel good,” the “We Found Love” singer said about her philosophy when getting dressed. “I’ve heard that for a very long time, but it’s true. It really can get you up off that couch and make you feel like a bad bi---.”

She added that she and the “Praise the Lord (Da Shine)” rapper often get ready in different parts of the house but come out wearing similar complementary looks with no coordination or pre-planning—how adorable!
