Sabrina Carpenter Brings Cottagecore Trends Into Autumn With ‘Variety’ Cover Feature

Sabrina Carpenter isn’t taking her foot off the fashion gas pedal just yet. Adding another entry into her ever-growing list of 2025 achievements, the pop sensation is the latest star to grace the cover of Variety.
Cottagecore chic styling
For her feature, Carpenter wowed in various ensembles, all of which leaned into a pretty cottagecore aesthetic. The Grammy Award winner flourished on the front page in cozy yet chic white lace pieces, which included a white headscarf and a romantic white netted knit dress. In another still, the full outfit could be seen as she posed in front of the SoHo skyline. Both her attire and the view were as dreamy as ever.
As for her supplemental snapshots, she continued with the theme of soft-toned palettes by rocking a pistachio green dress and a white fur cap in one image, while she went with bolder hues and patterns with her cheetah print mini dress and hot pink pumps in another.
On her controversial album cover
The stills of her Variety feature captured her cutting-edge energy, and Carpenter’s cover story was just as noteworthy. In the interview, she addressed some of the criticism she received earlier in the year, such as the controversy surrounding the main visual for her latest album, Man’s Best Friend.
“It meant one thing to me and 100 things to other people, and I was looking at it going, ‘That’s valid. Mine’s valid. What’s for dinner?’ Not to bypass the weight that it did carry for some people. I saw it and was like, ‘That is a great point. It wasn’t the point I was trying to make," the pop princess revealed.
She went on, adding, “The [original cover] really says it all, even though it’s maybe not what you want me to say. But I was really, really grateful that the fans did listen to the album. It’s been the most beautiful reception.”
Carpenter also made a rebuttal to the idea that she can’t be anything other than the Disney Channel actress who starred in the 2014 TV series Girl Meets World, especially when it comes to her sensual lyrics. Even so, she understands that their failure to see her for who she is today is no fault of her own.
“I think it wouldn’t matter so much if I wasn’t a childhood figure for some people,” she noted. “But I also can’t really help that. It’s not my fault that I got a job when I was 12, and you won’t let me evolve.”
Overall, Carpenter continues to be a trailblazer, a pacesetter and, in Variety’s words, a “hitmaker.”
