Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali isn’t shy when it comes to picking a favorite skincare product. He is a firm believer that no skincare routine is complete without a prescription retinoid.

The New York-based doctor, who treats celebrity patients like Martha Stewart and is the dermatologist behind Hailey Bieber’s award-winning skincare brand, Rhode, adds that a topical retinoid in partnership with a moisturizer that is meant to “nourish your skin and protect your barrier” is the secret to glowing, smooth skin. Dr. Bhanusali, founder of The Hudson Dermatology and Laser Surgery, uses the prescription Tretinoin as part of his own nightly skincare routine, in addition to the Barrier Restore Cream ($29) by Rhode as the “icing on the cake.”
