Glowy, smooth skin.

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali isn’t shy when it comes to picking a favorite skincare product. He is a firm believer that no skincare routine is complete without a prescription retinoid.

The New York-based doctor, who treats celebrity patients like Martha Stewart and is the dermatologist behind Hailey Bieber’s award-winning skincare brand, Rhode, adds that a topical retinoid in partnership with a moisturizer that is meant to “nourish your skin and protect your barrier” is the secret to glowing, smooth skin. The Michigan State University alumnus is the founder of Skin Medicinals, a digital platform that connects patients with board-certified dermatologists to increase accessibility to affordable medications and expert skincare knowledge. The brand is now used by more than 500,000 patients and 12,000 dermatology prescribers.

Dr. Bhanusali, founder of The Hudson Dermatology and Laser Surgery, uses the prescription Tretinoin as part of his own nightly skincare routine, in addition to the Barrier Restore Cream ($29) by Rhode as the “icing on the cake.”

This ultra-hydrating face cream is packed with all the ingredients of a rich, thick moisturizer but applies and soaks into the skin as easily as a lightweight gel. It is formulated with five essential fatty acids, as well as squalane and niacinamide, which all work together to nourish, brighten and smooth the skin.

“With Rhode, it’s like, ‘How do you provide high-quality ingredients at an affordable price?’ A testament to that [is] the Rhode team has done a really good job educating people on ingredients like peptides or niacinamide [and] why they are important,” he proudly shares of the brand.
