Sofia Richie Is Trendsetting, Turns Her Beautiful White Prada Nightgown Into Chic Streetwear

The social media personality is known for her sense of style, but even this was unexpected.

During New York Fashion Week, we expect to discover all the new high-fashion trends meant to take us into the fall and winter and beyond. But even though we are expecting the chicest, coolest streetwear, we still find ourselves surprised each and every year by the glamorous looks that take the city by storm.

One of our favorite unexpected styles of late was a simple look, styled for the purpose of beating the stifling New York heat—a white Prada nightgown turned daytime dress. Sofie Richie shared a series of Instagram photos on Sept. 7, standing atop the steps of a classic New York City brownstone in the glamorous streetwear casual look.

“97 in NYC = Prada night gown 🎀,” she aptly captioned the carousel, pointing to the reason for her inventive styling decision. Though perhaps unorthodox, we can’t get over the creative fashion choice.

The Prada pick that inspired the hot weather style featured a lace trim on the top and bottom hem, as well as through the mid-section of the elegant white gown. She paired her post-Labor Day whites with deep rust-colored velvet ballet flats and a similarly-colored boxy handbag. Richie accessorized with a pair of stylish sunglasses, a silver watch and oversized hoop earrings, all of which elevated the nightgown into the perfect afternoon outfit.

While more simple than many of the styles we’ve come across during this and past New York Fashion Weeks, we absolutely love its simplicity. Like Richie, we fully intend to try it ourselves if this heat continues much longer.
