Sydney Sweeney Channels Her Inner Space Queen With a Star-Studded Birthday Bash

The actress turned 28 this month and celebrated with an evening on ‘Planet Syd.’

Sydney Sweeney turned 28 on Sept. 12 and she just celebrated like the intergalactic icon she is.

The Anyone But You star threw herself a star-studded, outer space–themed bash that felt straight out of another galaxy. Dubbed Planet Syd, the soirée saw everyone from Wiz Khalifa to Sexyy Red to Lauren Sánchez and even Glen Powell (suited up as an astronaut) in attendance. Naturally, the birthday girl dressed the part.

The look

Sweeney looked like a true cosmic queen in a silver strapless minidress from The Blonds’s Spring 2009 collection, the same one Britney Spears famously wore for her Circus album cover. With its metallic finish and scattered star embellishments, the archival piece was a perfect nod to the party’s celestial theme—playful, glamorous and a little nostalgic. The look was styled by Molly Dickson, who continues to serve up some of Sweeney’s most memorable fashion moments.

Styling

She paired the show-stopping number with Rene Caovilla Cleo Sandals—signature heels known for their wraparound crystal coils and star-shaped accents—and styled her voluminous blonde curls into bouncy, brushed-out waves that gave major early 2000s pop princess energy. Her makeup, courtesy of Melissa Hernandez, featured a glossy lip, radiant highlight and fluttery lashes, while hair guru Glen Oropeza added just the right amount of retro glam to the final look.

Photo shoot

Never one to miss a photo op, Sweeney commemorated the night with a full editorial-style shoot by Cibelle Levi. In the cover snap, she sat with her knees bent to the side on the floor, giving the camera a powerful, soft-smolder stare that screamed “superstar.”

“What episode of Euphoria is this?,” one fan joked.

It’s been a whirlwind few months for the actress. She recently wrapped filming on Christy, a biopic about world champion boxer Christy Martin, and has been promoting several recent releases, including Echo Valley and The Housemaid. She also celebrated her birthday with a nature-filled trip to Lake Powell, where she flaunted her sculpted figure in a series of swimsuits and spent time cliff-diving, hiking and jet skiing.

Between red carpet slays, adventurous getaways and birthday content that could launch her into orbit, Sweeney is proving once again that no one’s doing it quite like her.
