We Have Reason to Believe This 2010s Hairstyle Is Back

The day has come, as these celebrities are embracing side parts yet again.

For years, we’ve watched the most stylish among us change their long-standing philosophies on hairstyling. We watched everyone switch their seemingly stagnant side hair part—the style that we grew up with, and the only we had ever known—to a middle part. At first, it was a shock. There was something about the move that felt, well, wrong.

But we trusted the powers that be, and we followed suit. It seems, though, the style icons are back at it—spicing up their hairstyles with a return to the side part style characteristic of the 2010s. After years of stagnant hairstyles, the dramatic side part is on the up and up. From runways to red carpets to casual afternoon outings, the style has taken back just about every occasion.

We can’t name every celebrity that we’ve seen sporting the returning style, but we have a few examples to make our point.

Selena Gomez

Now this is a dramatic example, but we love an extreme side part—it feels (aptly) red carpet-ready. Gomez doesn’t merely pull out the look for award shows, though. Her casual afternoons of late have featured the side part, too.

Here’s an example much less dramatic than Gomez’s, but still a side part all the same. Sweeney sported the same look on a recent episode of Hot OnesIf you’re looking to try the style, but are not yet all in, consider just moving your middle part just slightly to the side.

Lindsey Vonn

Sure, Vonn is best known for her skill on the slopes, but she’s established that she has a style worth replicating throughout the years, too. Her latest side part hairstyle is no exception—follow her lead.

Heidi Klum

Like Gomez’s, this one is mighty dramatic. The Hollywood curls and major side part? Nothing could take us back to the 2010s more quickly. Maybe you’re not into the drama—that’s fine. You can still follow Klum’s lead and change up your middle part from time to time.

Sure, there hasn’t been a unanimous agreement to return to the style (in other words, don’t fret, you’re not being asked to do away with your middle part entirely). But it’s clear that the look is having somewhat of a renaissance. And, it might be worth considering leaning into that every now and then. If anything, it’s a chance to switch up your style more often than you tend to.
