Slowly over the years, we’ve seen our favorite fashionable celebrities and models buck the once widespread rule of putting your summer whites away past Labor Day. These days, we can safely say that the old tradition has mostly come to an end, as white has become more mainstream in fall and winter wear. But when it comes to styling the bright hue, it can be difficult to know how to put together a white outfit that is distinctly suited for cool weather.

Thanks to model Kelsey Merritt, styling an all-white ensemble for the coming seasons just became a little easier. The Filipino-American model stepped out onto the streets of Milan during fashion week in the perfect fall-ready whites. She paired her straight white denim jeans with an off-white button-up cardigan. Merritt added pops of color with a small brown suede shoulder bag and the popular pair of tan-and-navy Chanel ballet flats—a style that appears to be making a comeback this season.

“cozy weather season,” Merritt aptly captioned the series of photos that featured her monochromatic outfit on the streets of the Italian fashion capital.

“Best!!” fellow SI Swim model Brooks Nader gushed in the comment section.

Merritt’s casual fall whites prove the hue much more versatile than believed to be in the past. White jeans are no longer reserved for the summer months, so follow Merritt’s lead and keep them in your rotation for the fall and winter.
