Legal drama series Suits premiered more than 12 years ago, and it still frequently makes its way into the top section of various streaming platforms from time to time. The Aaron Korsh-written series, starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman and Meghan Markle, spanned nine seasons and aired its finale in September 2019.

The People’s Choice Award- and NAACP Image Award-nominated show developed a global fan base and became a classic, binge-worthy show that topped Netflix’s charts this summer and fall, setting a record with 12 consecutive weeks at No. 1.

During Variety’s Power of Women 2023 red carpet event last month, a reporter asked Markle, who played fierce,, what she thinks the secret behind the longtime success of the show is.

“I’m sure you’ve probably noticed that a certain show, Suits, has become a phenomenon yet again on Netflix. Forty five billion minutes have been watched as of this week,” the reporter said. “What do you think is behind this renewed love for the show? Why has it become such a phenomenon again?”

The Duchess of Sussex laughed and gave a proud smile, noting that she has “no idea” why the resurgence is happening, but she understands it.

“It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit,” the 42-year-old gushed. “It’s just hard to find a show you can binge watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. Good shows are everlasting.”
