Not only did Lauren Chan deliver for her rookie SI Swimsuit photo shoot in the Dominican Republic with photographer James Macari, she also absolutely slayed the magazine’s red carpet premiere event in New York City on May 18.

Chan provided her 87,900 Instagram followers with a behind the scenes glimpse at her custom designer ensemble for the occasion. She worked with Outlier design director Willie Norris on the monochromatic look, which featured a black bodysuit with mesh paneling up to the model’s neck and matching opera gloves.

“Fitting to final look. 🖤,” Chan wrote in her caption alongside the photos.

Chan was styled for the event by Kaelen Haworth, while makeup artist Alex Levy opted for a bold smokey eye and nude lip and hairstylist Sergio Estrada pulled the model’s dark locks up into a high knotted bun.

“Thank you all for making me feel strong and sexy and gay and proud! 🖤🗡️🔥,” Chan wrote in another Instagram post with video footage and photos from the red carpet.

The former Glamour editor wrote a powerful essay for SI Swimsuit on coming out, getting divorced and posing for this year’s annual publication. Read more about her journey here.
