German pop star Kim Petras is one of four 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue cover models, and after Monday’s major announcement, the 30-year-old opened up to People about her cover girl moment. The same day, Petras unveiled more exciting news—she shared on Instagram that her new album, Feed the Beast, drops on June 23.

“It’s super exciting to have my Sports Illustrated cover and album announcement happening at the same time!” Petras told the publication. “Yu Tsai and the whole team at Sports Illustrated made me feel really comfortable and like I belonged there. I had the best time and, honestly, it was a huge confidence boost.”

The “Coconuts” singer is having an incredible year already. In February, Petras became the first transgender woman to win a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her track “Unholy” with Sam Smith. The artist then posed for photographer Yu Tsai in Los Angeles for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

“I was so excited when I got the call to be in Sports Illustrated,” Petras told SI Swimsuit of her magazine feature. “It’s very iconic, and a lot of very iconic people have done it before, so [it was a] big dream come true for me.”
