2023 SI Swimsuit Model Padma Lakshmi Says She Dresses the Same Today as She Did in the ’90s

The TV host, mom, activist and best-selling author makes her debut with the magazine this month.

Padma Lakshmi spent her 20s at the peak of her modeling career—she was featured in major campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Versace, Armani and more, and was busy jumping from gig to gig. Today, at 52, the Top Chef host and Taste the Nation creator and executive producer looks back on those moments fondly, but with a sense of peace that they are all in the past.

The 2023 SI Swimsuit model feels the most beautiful in her 50s and loves who she currently is—a mom, an activist, a best-selling author and a beautiful woman because of her age, and the life moments that have come along with the decades. Lakshmi makes her debut in the SI Swimsuit Issue later this month and it feels so much “sweeter” that the opportunity came at this point in her life.

One thing she hasn’t lost however, since the 1990s, is her love for slip dresses. And it’s a good thing, because the New York City resident has noticed the style coming back.

“I haven’t changed my style in the way I dress. Obviously, I like to be current and refresh my wardrobe, but I dress the same way I always have when I was in the ’90s in my 20s as a model,” she said in an interview with InStyle. “I have so many slip dresses. I love a good slip dress.”
