Alex Morgan Reminisces on Her First USWNT Appearance Ahead of the Squad’s Return to the Pitch
Professional soccer player Alex Morgan and the USWNT returned to the pitch yesterday, Oct. 26, for another international friendly. At American First Field in Sandy, Utah, the squad took on the Colombian national team, the first in pair of late October matches between the two teams.
Game day anticipation elicited some sweet reflections from Morgan, the current San Diego Waves FC striker who has been a member of the national team squad since 2010. That year, the athlete made her debut for the team during a very snowy game in Sandy, Utah, the very same place that she made her 214th appearance last night. In an afternoon Instagram post leading up to the evening game, the 34-year-old shared a couple of photos from this USWNT season alongside a throwback to her first game 13 years ago.
“1st cap feels allll over again minus the snow 🙌 GAMEDAY,” she captioned the post, admitting to the reflections that the return to Utah brought for her. In the second slide, Morgan battled for ball on a snowy field during her first cap as a USWNT member.
Though last night’s game ended in a 0-0 draw, we have no doubt that it was a memorable one all the same for the seasoned soccer professional. Morgan and the rest of the USWNT will be back at it on Oct. 28 for a match against Argentina. They will have a rematch against Colombia the following day, Oct. 29.
