Here’s Why Amanda Batula and West Wilson Are All Over Your Feed: ‘Summer House’ Drama Explained

Yesterday was a major one for Bravo viewers, as some serious Summer House tea came to light. While fans have been speculating for some time, on Tuesday, March 31, costars Amanda Batula and West Wilson confirmed their relationship, causing fans of the reality show to flock to the internet to discuss the bombshell news.
“We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” Batula and West wrote in their respective Instagram stories on Tuesday, March 31. “It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.
“We’ve shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected. Our connection grew out of a genuine, long-standing friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care. As our feelings evolved, we wanted to take time to understand exactly what we were feeling. We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless. We truly appreciate the understanding and respect as we navigate this.”
So, what exactly is going on? Here’s a brief summary.
How are Amanda Batula and West Wilson connected?
Batula first appeared on Season 1 of Summer House in 2017 before joining the cast as a regular the following year. At the time of the show’s premiere season, Batula was dating cast member Kyle Cooke, whom she went on to marry in September 2021. After about a decade together, including four years of marriage, the pair announced their separation in a joint statement in January of this year.
Meanwhile, Wilson joined the Bravo series during its eighth season, which aired in 2024. His storyline focused largely on his relationship with castmate Ciara Miller, who has been part of the Summer House cast since Season 5. While short-lived, Wilson and Miller’s romance was hot and heavy. They dated for several months, starting in the summer of 2023, before they split that December.
Why is Batula and West’s newfound relationship so scandalous?
Batula and Miller became fast friends after meeting on the Summer House set, so the fact that Batula is now dating her bestie’s ex is certainly causing an uproar on the internet.
In an interview published by Marie Claire just weeks ago, Batula cited Miller’s loyalty to her while she navigated her divorce from Cooke.

“It would have been a very difficult summer to get through without Ciara,” Batula told the outlet. “She is one of the kindest, most loving, loyal friends I've ever had. She sends me texts out of the blue, reminding me how strong, powerful, smart, and kind I am—I don’t think she even realizes how much I need those texts.”
She followed up that sentiment by also sharing how much Wilson’s support at the time meant to her.
“It’s also meant so much to me how supportive West [Wilson] has been throughout the season, sometimes in ways I wasn't even aware of when filming,” Batula added. “It’s not performative; it’s just really authentic to who West is.”
Where do Miller and Batula stand now?
While Miller has not made a public statement regarding her ex and former bestie getting together, she was spotted sitting on a New York City sidewalk in public yesterday looking shocked and seemingly has unfollowed both Batula and Wilson on Instagram.
The next episode of Summer House airs on Bravo on Tuesday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
