Angel Reese Is Named to Team USA Roster for 2023 Women’s AmeriCup
Angel Reese is having a fabulous 2023, and we’re not even at the halfway mark. The LSU basketball star, who makes her SI Swimsuit debut as a model this year, led the Tigers to the school’s first women’s basketball national championship and recently celebrated her milestone 21st birthday. Reese also just was named to Team USA’s 2023 Women’s AmeriCup roster.
The Bayou Barbie and Team USA will play their first game against Venezuela on July 1, followed by group play against Argentina, Brazil and Cuba. Finals are scheduled for July 9, and the tournament will be held in León, Mexico.
“THIS WAS MY YEAR,” Reese wrote on Instagram when she announced the news on Sunday. “Never will I give up on the things that I WANT in life! I WILL NOT BE DENIED! Super excited to represent my country! LET’S GO USA❤️💙🇺🇸.”
The Baltimore native boasts a name, image and likeness valuation of approximately $1.3 million, according to On3.com. She has entered into partnerships with brands such as Raising Cane‘s and Mercedes-Benz Baton Rouge. Her name, and social media following, skyrocketed after she defended herself for what haters called “classless” taunting and trash talk behavior during the Final Four.
Reese, who set a national record with 34 double-doubles during the 2022-23 season, was photographed by Yu Tsai for the SI Swimsuit Issue in Los Angeles earlier this year.
