Ashley Graham gets constantly asked, “How do you balance work and motherhood?” Her fans and followers want to know what it looks like for her. While she didn’t mind addressing the subject on her Instagram, she likewise made it clear that the question feels like a bit of a “double standard.”

“Do you ever hear anyone asking men, how do they juggle work and fatherhood?” Graham noted. But despite the disparity, she tackled the question as best she could.

“There’s no such thing as balance,” she began her answer to the popular question. When she’s at work, she can’t help but ponder what’s happening back at home with her kids. When she’s at home, the reverse is true.

For her, the only real solution to this is planning out her day. “Mapping out my day just makes me feel like I’ve touched on exactly what matters,” she stated.

Every single day, Graham makes sure she sees her kids, even if its just over FaceTime. Likewise, working on her business every day is a must, “even if I’m on vacation,” she admitted. “Priorities—they don’t take a day off,” Graham added.

But it all comes down to knowing what works best for herself, and planning her days accordingly. “If you know what your priorities are, then you know you’re going to be able to achieve them,” the SI Swimsuit model said. “And, to me, that feels like balance.”

So, if you’re trying to find that—perhaps elusive—sensation of balance in everyday life, maybe start with mapping out your day. Know exactly what you need out of each day to make it a success, then proceed from there.
