Supermodel Ashley Graham Reveals How She Prioritizes Both Work and Motherhood

Ashley Graham is urging her Instagram followers to “let go of the mom guilt” and sharing some informative tips on how she does the same. The Victoria’s Secret Angel and 38-year-old mother of three told her app followeres how she manages to raise her boys amidst her flourishing career as a model, designer and former Broadway star.
Graham’s guidance
“I live by this thing that Shonda Rhimes once said, that when you’re at work, you feel like you’re missing something with your kids at home, and when you’re with your kids, you feel like you’re missing time at your work, and you’re always missing something,” Graham explained in the reel. Then, she disclosed how she combats that feeling of absence.
“I just try to embrace whatever season I’m in, because the truth is, you can have it all, just not all at the same time,” the model continued before diving into a specific anecdote regarding a missed flight, where she questioned her ability to handle her workload while also raising her trio of young boys.
“Balance sounds nice in theory, but I don’t think it actually exists. But what does exist are a lot of conversations—with myself, my husband, all about being intentional,” the model elaborated on her solution to the mental hurdle. “When I’m home, I’m really home. And when I’m working, I remind myself that my kids are loved, they’re safe and they’re in the best hands.”
And, ultimately, as a role model for her three sons, she also recognizes that her work allows her to show up as her “best self” at home. She prefaced the sentiment by adding, “My career makes me happy and I want my kids to see the happiest version of me.”
Celebrities chime in
Graham’s message didn’t just resonate with her massive fanbase; it also hit home for a few celebrity moms who expressed some more words of wisdom in the post’s comments.
“Balance is all and nothing. Not 50/50 is what I’ve figured out,” Vanessa Hudgens declared. The actress gave birth to her second child with her husband, Cole Tucker, in November.
Mother of four and fellow model Sarah Nicole Landry added, “ ... Working outside the home doesn’t mean motherhood stays at the door. It is everywhere, somehow blending through every thought and action. The balance doesn’t exist, it’s always just the grace in the duality of it all. ❤️”
