When she was revealed as SI Swimsuit’s newest 2024 rookie on Thursday, Brittany Mahomes received tons of uplifting comments from the general public, many of whom were blown away by the first look at her brand photo shoot in San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize, alongside photographer Derek Kettela.

However, with the limelight, there are bound to be a few detractors, and the 28-year-old Kansas City Current co-owner had a quick and powerful response to internet trolls who attempted to tear her down.

“I’m here to tell you people will dislike you, people will love you,” Mahomes wrote in an Instagram story across a stunning image of herself in a red Mugler cut-out swimsuit. “Don’t let any of that define you. KEEP SHINING and being YOU ✨.”

The 28-year-old mom of two echoed a similar sentiment in her on-set interview with the SI Swimsuit team while in the Central American country.

“Be confident in who you are and be unapologetically yourself,” she stated. “People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you ‘you’ to be the best version of yourself is what really matters. Whether that’s health and wellness, being a great wife or mom, or career goals, being the best version of you is the most important thing you can be.”

Her inspirational advice—to be yourself no matter what—is something that we can all stand to benefit from.
