When it comes to finding the right item of clothing or the ideal pair of sunglasses, it’s not always a matter of staying on trend or finding the season’s best new release. For Christen Harper, something else takes priority.

While at Miami Swim Week, the three-time brand model spoke with the SI Swimsuit team about what she really looks for in terms of her go-to fashion pieces. When asked about her favorite sunglasses brands, the 30-year-old shared that she has a pair of Le Specs sunglasses that she’s had in her rotation forever. “I bought [them] I think two years ago and I love them so much,” she says.

Rather than replacing clothing and accessories seasonally, “I feel like I love to wear the same thing for a long time,” she explains. “I really like to make the most out of everything I buy and be really intentional about the things I buy.”

For the model, rewearing clothing and accessories comes down to a dedication to sustainability. “Now, when I purchase something [I try to] really make sure it’s something that I’m going to wear a lot and be less trendy” for the sake of the environment, she says.

And her Le Specs sunnies are the perfect staple to use and reuse for years to come. “They’re really cute kind of vintage ’90s style,” she says. “Instead of switching them out frequently, I love to just have that one [pair] that I reach for when I go out the door.”
