Ellie Thumann Shares 2023 Launch Week Vlog Full of Red Carpets, Glam Moments and Swimsuit Island Festivities

The 2023 rookie and YouTube star made her SI Swimsuit debut in Puerto Rico

If you want an inside look at an entire week of SI Swimsuit Launch events, look no further than our resident YouTube star and 2023 rookie Ellie Thumann’s latest vlog.

The 21-year-old model, who was photographed by Derek Kettela in Puerto Rico earlier this year for her debut shoot with the magazine, took fans behind the scenes from New York to Florida for a week full of red carpets, glam, parties, good food, and all things SI Swimsuit.

“becoming a sports illustrated model,” she titled the video shared with her 2.2 million subscribers on June 25, and added a message in the caption: “I hope you enjoyed seeing some inside into the NYC-FLORIDA launch week festivities. It was all such a blur and I am so glad I have this to look back on!!!!”

The vlog began with the Arizona native getting ready to appear on the Monday, May 15 episode of Good Day New York, as the 2023 SI Swimsuit issue hit stands and launched digitally.

Thumann, who lives with her older sister in Charleston, included a sweet clip of her scrolling through her gallery for the first time.

“I don’t even know where to start with how incredible this first day is. If this is literally the first day, how am I supposed to get through this week without exploding of happiness,” she gushed. “It is just so crazy that this all started a year after my lowest point where I could barely even put on a swimsuit because I was so sick and so unhappy. Now, here I am, the healthiest version of myself, celebrating being a rookie. ”

The vlog then forwarded to Thursday, May 18, for the SI Swimsuit VIP red carpet and launch party at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City.

Thumann showed off her custom green Juicy Couture sweatsuit as she hopped on the private plane the next morning and headed to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Hollywood, Fla. with the rest of the 2023 models and the SI Swimsuit team.

She included more snippets of the weekend—quick glam sessions, stunning gowns, opening the magazine for the first time, moments with her family and her boyfriend flying in to surprise her.

“Thank you to everyone who has helped me celebrate this accomplishment in my career! My heart was so full to know that this was something I always dreamed of doing!!!! Doing it at 21 years old being around so many women that inspire me with something I’ll never forget,” she wrote on-screen at the end of the video.
