Fans Are Reeling Over This USA Gymnastics Reunion

Three members of the 2016 squad just got back together, taking us right back to the Rio Olympics.

Some of our favorite Olympic athletes just had a little reunion, and we are overjoyed at the sight of it. In an Instagram post on Dec. 6, Simone Biles shared the sweetest pair of photos of Laurie Hernandez, Aly Raisman and herself—three members of the iconic 2016 Team USA Olympic gymnastics squad—enjoying a catch-up.

“grown-ish,” Biles captioned the post, pointing out how much older the trio looks seven years since their impressive Olympic appearance.

Hernandez took the words right out of our mouth, writing “this is wild to look at😭♥️♥️♥️” in the comment section.

We weren’t the only ones to take notice of the get together and express joy at the sight of it. Biles’s followers were buzzing over the two photos and made their excitement known in the comments section.

“Guaranteed that most people don’t even comprehend the talent, courage, and authenticity that is captured in this photo,” one fan gushed of the trio.

“legendary trio!!!!” another concurred.

“❤️❤️❤️,” Madison Kocian, one of their 2016 teammates, wrote.

“This makes my heart happy!!!!" a follower expressed.

Of the three, only Biles is an active gymnast today. With impressive, record-breaking performances from the athlete throughout the fall and summer, we’ll hope to watch her take the biggest stage in sports again at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. While we’re sure to love the new squad just as much as the ’16 group, we will always have a soft spot in our hearts for that team—and so will everyone else, it seems.
