Fans Declare Reese Witherspoon and Daughter Ava Phillippe ‘Twins’ in Festive Photos

The mother-daughter duo bear a striking resemblance to one another.

Reese Witherspoon is busy celebrating the holiday season with her family, and her recent Instagram post of the festivities has fans doing a double take.

In her Dec. 21 post, the actress started her seasonal carousel with a snapshot alongside her 26-year-old daughter, Ava Phillippe—and the pair’s resemblance is truly striking. Both women were dressed in sparkly black ensembles as they mirrored one another’s grins for the camera. While Witherspoon, 49, opted for a natural lip, Phillippe sported a bright red lipstick.

We weren’t the only ones to notice the mother-daughter duo’s similarities, as plenty of The Morning Show star’s 30.3 million followers took to the comments section of the post to declare similar sentiments.

“Woah I had to double take bc I didn’t know which one was you! So beautiful - both of you ❤️,” blogger Peyton Baxter wrote.

“My goodness, you ladies are twins!” one person noted.

“So beautiful! She is your twin,” Gretchen Rossi added.

“TWINS! ❤️,” Nicole Williams English concurred.

In addition to the picture alongside her daughter, Witherspoon’s post showcased a gorgeous charcuterie board, a festive Christmas tree and snapshots with her mother, Betty Reese, sons Deacon and Tennesee, and bestie Laura Dern.

While this is far from the first time fans have pointed out how similar the mother-daughter duo look, in the past, Witherspoon has stated that she loves being likened to her daughter.

“Well, I love being mistaken for her because it makes me feel so young,” she told InStyle in 2021. “I’m so proud of her. She really rolls with it. I’m sure it’s not easy looking exactly like your mother.” She continued, “Ava is so down-to-earth. She wants to do great things in the world. She’s studying and learning and trying to find herself. It’s a big thing in life to try different things and figure out what is really your path.”

Phillippe, whose father is Witherspoon’s ex-husband, I Know What You Did Last Summer star Ryan Phillippe, has followed in the footsteps of her famous parents. She appeared in an episode of Doctor Odyssey this year and is slated to star in Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, a forthcoming film adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name.

As for how she feels about people always drawing comparisons to her famous mother? “... I don’t hate it,” Phillippe told TODAY last year. “It’s a great comparison.”
