Get Your Own Little Words Project Bracelet Just Like the Ones NSYNC Gifted Taylor Swift at the VMAs
Taylor Swift truly is “unstoppable,” as legendary pop band NSYNC described her at the MTV Video Music awards on Sept. 12.
The “You Belong With Me” singer had a history-making night at the New Jersey ceremony, as she won nine honors, including Show of the Summer, Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for her latest studio project, Midnights. The 33-year-old is now tied for most VMA wins in a single night and has the second most overall wins, after Beyoncé.
The ’90s boy band, featuring Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, reunited at the ceremony last night and presented Swift with her first win of the evening, the Best Pop Award for “Anti-Hero.” The track also won awards for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Music.
But a trophy wasn’t the only special item she walked off the stage with—Bass also handed her a stack of five bracelets from the
Little Words Project. Friendship bracelets have become a fan and celebrity attendee staple at concerts during Swift’s current record-breaking “The Eras Tour.”
The brand revealed on Instagram that the 44-year-old reached out to them ahead of the show asking for custom bracelets that read “FTGWHE,” “TS,” “NSYNC,” “FEARLESS” and “LOVER.”
NSYNC won the Best Pop Video award at the VMAs in 2000 for their hit “Bye Bye Bye.”
“I’m not doing well pivoting from this [NSYNC reuniting] to this [winning the award],” Swift stated in her speech, as she gestured to the band and then to her trophy. “I had your dolls. You’re pop personified, so to receive this from your golden pop hands is... really, it’s too much. Thank you for the friendship bracelets. I love making pop music, I love making pop music videos, I also loved making country [music]. I love slinking around different genres and the only reason I’m allowed to do that is because you, the fans, gave me the opportunity to do that. It’s all just one big adventure. It’s so much fun to challenge myself to make music that’s different that what I made last. But I really love making pop music so thank you so, so, so much.”
