Halloween is just around the corner and we’ve gathered intel from some of your favorite SI Swimsuit models about previous costumes they have loved, what they’re thinking about for this year and their favorite spooky season traditions.

Swim Search alumnas Christen Harper and Katie Austin, who co-won the open casting call in 2021, both admit that they are last-minute costume people—always waiting too long and scrambling in the final hour, but still looking adorable when the end of October rolls around.

“I’m always a last minute costume girl, and because of that, I’ve dressed up as an ’80s workout girl about 10 times, like my mama. I grab her old leotards and leg warmers,” the fitness influencer shares, while giving a special shout-out to her fitness icon mom, Denise Austin.

Harper, who lives in Detroit with her Lions quarterback fiancé Jared Goff, says she also has a go-to backup costume that she often leans on.

“I’m not the most involved Halloween person, I tend to be last minute and just figure out what I can pull together from my own closet,” she says. “When in doubt, be a cowgirl!”

The two models also reveals that their Charlie’s Angels costume last year, which they wore along with their friend Elizabeth Turner, was an all-time favorite. The fitness influencer adds that it was an exciting time to celebrate since they had just been announced as co-Rookies of the Year together.

Harper also mentions a fond childhood Halloween tradition that has become a core memory.

“Our neighborhood was filled with kids all around the same age and once it turned to October every year, we would do ‘boo baskets’ where someone in the neighborhood would leave a basket filled with treats and fun Halloween decorations on your doorstep and ding dong ditch you,” she explains. “Once you receive the basket, you have to refill it with toys and treats for the next house and pass it along. It was always the most fun dressing in all black and ding dong ditching and sneaking away so you don’t get caught.”

Neither model is certain about what they might dress up as this year. Perhaps Austin, 29, will do a couple’s costume with her fiancé, Lane Armstrong in Los Angeles. But one thing’s for sure—they are both expecting to see tons of Barbies around town. Harper, 30, says she might join in just so she can walk around saying “Hi, Barbie!” to everyone.
