The journalist has built a platform around honest representations of her body, and ‘The Times’ cover is only the latest example.

Danae Mercer is a self-love activist. Everything from her social media posts to her public speaking engagements speaks to her desire to encourage others on their paths of self-love.

Her latest magazine cover is no different. The former editor of Women’s Health Middle East graced the cover of the latest issue of The Times Magazine with a photo that made her mission only that much clearer. In the stunning snap, Mercer donned a navy blue bodysuit and held her hands on her upper thigh, highlighting her cellulite.

The journalist shared the cover, alongside screenshots of excerpts from the feature, to her Instagram page, expressing her excitement for the chance to be featured and share her story.

In the cover piece, she touched on “cellulite, self-love” and the “wonderful community that she has built on her social media channels, she said in the caption of her post.

One excerpt, which Mercer shared in her Instagram carousel, was particularly powerful. “You could dismiss Mercer as Margot Robbie’s Barbie, waking to the existential horror of the world via orange-peel thighs — or you could see her as an algorithm-friendly double agent, feeding back from behind influencer lines on the new guerrilla warfare being used in the battle of body image. Because we were once told that the camera never lies, but these days it does little else.”

Mercer’s content is refreshingly honest, and that’s exactly what her audience loves about her most.
