You may be familiar with Olivia Dunne for her status as both a star on LSU’s  gymnastics team and a social media influencer. As the top-paid female collegiate athlete in the country, she’s built an incredible brand for herself while partnering with companies like Vuori, American Eagle and Plantfuel. Next, the 20-year-old New Jersey native will make her editorial debut in the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue in May.

Dunne traveled to Puerto Rico for her photo shoot with photographer Ben Watts at the beginning of this year. She described the experience as a “dream come true” and noted that working with SI Swimsuit has been on her vision board for some time.

“The way that the [SI Swimsuit] brand has evolved and has become such a positive spotlight for women to tell their stories and to spread awesome messages of being strong, sexy and beautiful, I knew that was something I wanted to be part of,” she stated.

Dunne uses her platform—to the tune of 11 million followers across TikTok and Instagram—to share gymnastics and lifestyle content that inspires others to shoot for their own dreams. She also advocates for equality when it comes to college athletics. Eventually, Dunne hopes to create a NIL fund that will help raise money specifically for women’s sports.

“I’m just getting started with it, but I want to leave my mark and bring attention to the issue that needs to be talked about,” she said. “[The future collective] can fund NIL deals for female athletes and get people talking about the underlying problem, which is that money needs to go out to support women’s sports in a way that respects the work that was started with Title IX.”
