Jordan Chiles Unveils New SI Swimsuit-Themed Hip Tattoo on Swim Week Runway

SI Swimsuit cover girl and Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles didn't just make her debut at the annual SI Swimsuit Runway Show in Miami, Fla., on May 31—she showcased her new ink as well.
The 24-year-old strutted in a multicolored triangle two-piece from Jean Paul Gautier for her first look on the catwalk. When she reached its edge, Chiles pointed to her hip to reveal a tattoo that fit the night’s festivities: a bikini hanging on a clothesline with a “25” at its end.
“All of my tattoos have meaning to them, so this one I’m gonna debut on the runway,” Chiles shared in a TikTok video showcasing the behind the scenes action from her trip to Miami.
The two-time Olympian’s newest piece of art is a nod to her SI Swimsuit cover. Earning front-page honors for the magazine’s 2025 issue with Salma Hayek Pinault, Lauren Chan and Olivia Dunne, the collegiate athlete said that she was ready for her moment.
“I manifested this,” Chiles stated as part of her cover story. “Three years ago I was on a girls’ trip in Hawaii and was pretending that I was doing a Sports Illustrated [Swimsuit] shoot. I literally said, ‘One day, I’m going to be an SI model.’”
Chiles seemed to predict her very own destiny. To SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day, the gold medalist was the perfect representation of the brand.
“Resilience is [Chiles’s] trademark, and it’s why she stands as a symbol of strength—not just physical, but emotional,” Day wrote in the magazine’s 2025 Editor's Letter. “Jordan is showing us all that perseverance and joy can coexist in powerful ways.”
The gritty competitor—who competed in the NCAA women's gymnastics national championships less than a month before her cover came out—embodies Day’s sentiment. Following the issue launch, Chiles shared a meaningful message to Instagram with frames from her shoot in Boca Raton.
“If you only knew how long it took me to appreciate my beauty. The number of times I told myself and heard negative things,” Chiles wrote on Instagram on May 14.
“These muscles have allowed me to accomplish so much! And now That Girl is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Model!!!”
Additionally, she stated, the experience of joining the SI Swimsuit sisterhood has further pushed Chiles to show up and stand out off the mat.
“It allowed me to experience a different side of myself,” Chiles declared. "I was able to embrace my beauty and just be fully myself.”
