Katie Austin Recalls Favorite Moment of SI Swimsuit Photo Shoot in Dominican Republic

The fitness influencer returned for her third year with the magazine.

Katie Austin is revealing her favorite moments of her 2023 SI Swimsuit photo shoot in the Dominican Republic with photographer James Macari.

The fitness influencer, who recently got engaged to Lane Armstrong, posed in the water, on the sand, on beach chairs and on a bright green table. She even balanced on a palm tree that extended and hovered a few feet above water—and the resulting photo was epic. The 2022 co-Rookie of the Year shared a behind-the-scenes TikTok of the tricky feat that she perfectly executed.

“my favorite BTS moment shooting @SI SWIMSUIT 👙 2023🤍,” she wrote alongside a video of herself standing on the palm tree. The Virginia native wore a dark purple triangle-shaped bikini from Sommer Swim.

Austin made her debut with the magazine in 2021 when she was a co-winner of the Swim Search open casting call. At last year’s launch party, the 29-year-old was asked if she had any advice for Swim Search hopefuls.

“First off, do it. [Co-Rookie of the Year Christen Harper and I] were talking earlier as we were getting our glam done [saying], ‘Did you ever have that doubting moment where you just didn’t press send on Instagram? Or press send on your audition tape?’ And we cannot believe that if we didn’t do it, we would not be standing here right now,” Austin shared. “It sounds so cliché, but you can accomplish anything that you want. I had auditioned since 2017. And so honestly, if you first fail, you do it again, baby. You get back up and you just keep trying.”
