The 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue hits newsstands next week, and Leyna Bloom is ready for it. The magazine’s history-making ’21 cover star shared a sneak peek snapshot from this year’s photo shoot on Instagram on Monday.

Bloom, who traveled to Dominica for her 2023 feature with the franchise, was photographed while sprawled in the sand as waves gently rolled onto the shore. While not much of her swimwear can be seen, Bloom donned golden bikini bottoms and a coordinated arm cuff. A gorgeous sunset was captured in the background.

“Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Launch is next week,” she wrote in her caption. “I’m so excited to see who is on the cover or covers💘.”

This year will mark Bloom’s third consecutive feature in the SI Swimsuit Issue. After landing the cover 2021, and being the first transgender woman to do so, she returned to the publication last year and posed for Yu Tsai in Belize.

“I was brought here to be a vessel of change,” Bloom told SI Swimsuit of her cover girl moment. “The more that we have people, like us, in the world that are having these conversations, that are daring to go out and to have the courage to talk about this, the more that we can see representation everywhere around the globe—that’s when we really understand true love and the brotherhood and the sisterhood that we are all a part of.”
