Look: 6 Photos of Swimwear Brand Founder Georgina Burke in Puerto Rico

This year, the Australian model returned for her second SI Swimsuit photo shoot.

Georgina Burke is a go-getter. She felt there was a lack of plus-size swimsuits in the mainstream market, so she set out to create her own brand, Burke NYC.

The two-time SI Swimsuit model, who was first discovered in her hometown of Brisbane, Australia, at the age of 17, uses her platform to advocate for diversity and inclusion in the industry. She was photographed by Ben Watts in Barbados for her debut photo shoot with the magazine and in Puerto Rico earlier this year.

“I feel I’ve been a plus-size model for the last 11 years, and it’s in the last few years that we’ve seen a movement. SI has definitely been one that has continued to open doors for people that aren’t genuinely seen in the media,” Burke said. “And I feel my growing platform will give me a voice and keep pushing those boundaries. And it’s exciting to keep seeing all the models like Ashley Graham walking down runways and busting down doors. So I hope being in SI will put me on a bigger platform to do more, do better and stay accountable because my audience is going to grow.”
