Lucy Hale Celebrates Her One-Year Sobriety Journey With Self-Love and Cake

The actress shared her news in the hopes of helping others feel less alone.

Lucy Hale prioritized self-care this Valentine’s Day by recognizing a major milestone. The Pretty Little Liars actress shared that she recently reached her first year of sobriety. 

The 33-year-old actress opened up to her 24.5 million Instagram followers by sharing a photo of a frosted cake with rainbow sprinkles on Feb. 14 that read “1 Year!” in yellow icing.

“This is a post about self-love and about the greatest thing I’ve ever done,” she wrote. “On January 2, 2023 I celebrated one year of sobriety.”

Fans and friends were inspired by Hale’s transparency and quickly flooded the comments section with congratulations and well-wishes.

“Congratulations to you Lucy. This is brave. And cool. And inspirational. And you deserve all the self love and love from others that goes with it. 👏,” actress and former PLL co-star Troian Bellisario wrote.

“I’m so proud of you sis 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I love you so much 🖤🖤🖤,” gushed singer-actress Demi Lovato. “Thank you for being a part of my journey and allowing me to be a part of yours 🙏🏼.”

Hale noted that she chose to share her milestone in the hopes of helping others.

“While this journey has mostly been private, I felt compelled tonight to let anyone who is struggling know that you are not alone and you are loved,” she wrote.

“So proud of you today and everyday since your journey began. Your gift to yourself will become someone else’s to them,” added The Hating Game costar Austin Stowell. “So much love and admiration for this post and you, shortcake. Huge congrats! 🤍.”
