Mady Dewey Encourages Fans To ‘Do a Rebrand, Go After Your Dreams’
Mady Dewey is sharing some valuable advice that applies to both fresh college grads and industry veterans alike. The 25-year-old graduated from Chapman University in 2018 and has since pivoted multiple times within her career in tech. She shared all the details and an inspirational message in her latest TikTok.
“I’m in my mid-20s and I forget sometimes that I’ve lived like 15 lives since I graduated college,” she began. “I’m happy to talk about any of them. I just want to share because if you’re like one or two years out of college and feeling like, ‘What am I doing? I’m so lost,’ just know you can reinvent yourself at any point. It’s actually pretty easy to do, especially when you’re in your younger 20s.”
Dewey explained that she entered the advertising and sales industry at Google and worked with large clients. She said she was a “big tech girly” at that time. A couple of years later, when the pandemic began, she started regularly posting on TikTok and turned that into a money-making business by consulting for content creators. Dewey kept that going while taking on a job with YouTube Shorts as a content strategist.
In 2021, she left all of her other gigs to focus on Herd, a metric-less social media app she cofounded with her best friend, Ali Howard. The app aims to help women feel more positive when sharing and consuming online media.
“I entered my girlboss tech social app founder phase where I launched an app with my best friend,” she said in the video about that exciting year of her life. “I also decided to go out for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s Swim Search and I won it and I am now a 2023 Sports Illustrated rookie.”
Dewey clarified that she had no previous modeling experience, but the California native loved what the magazine stood for and was no stranger to snapping bikini photos.
The Socially Well podcast host added that she also works as a full-time product marketing manager for Discord. She’s “pretty happy” about all the twists and turns her post-grad career has taken and finds strength in being able to take risks and not be afraid of challenges.
“So, this is just to reminder, do a rebrand,” she finished. “Go after your dreams. Don’t hold yourself back.”
