Naomi Osaka Shares Fierce Training Footage and Fans Are So Excited for the Tennis Champ’s Return

The professional athlete is gearing up to play in the Australian Open next month.

Naomi Osaka is busy training for the next pro tennis season, and fans couldn’t be more excited for the 26-year-old’s return to the courts.

The mom of one, who welcomed a baby girl in July with singer Cordae, is back to training and already dominating less than six months postpartum. She shared an impressive, fast-paced video on Instagram of herself rallying back and forth with another player off-screen—and Osaka sure brought the power.

“Training, I’ll let the video speak for itself,” the athlete captioned the post she shared with her 2.7 million followers on Dec. 1.

“😳😳 let’s go!!!” legendary professional swimmer Michael Phelps commented.

“Insane hitting 🚀,” a fan wrote.

“She’s back!!” someone added.

“oh my god 🥵🥵 man i can’t wait to see you so soon! ❤️,” another gushed.

“They ain’t ready omg,” one person chimed.

The four-time Grand Slam singles champion tagged talented videographer Samba, who also shared his own collection of content on social media.

“a glimpse into greatness with @naomiosaka,” he wrote alongside a few high-quality clips of practice sessions and vintage film photos.

The 2021 SI Swimsuit model, who was photographed by Yu Tsai in Malibu, Calif., opened up to TODAY about having her little girl watch her do what she loves from the stands.

“I’m most excited about being able to have a kid in the stands watching me play tennis, and them being able to say, ‘Hey, that’s my mom on the court,’” she said in May. “I think that moment will be surreal, and I really look forward to the day that it actually happens. It really does feel like a dream to think of my own child in the stands watching me, and I’m so excited that I’ve got that coming in the not-so-distant future.”

Osaka has formally announced her plans to play in the Australian Open next January.
