NFL’s Week 1 Halftime Show Is About to Go Big With This Grammy Winner

On Thursday morning, the NFL reported that—for its inaugural exclusive live broadcast with YouTube—it’s bringing in one of Latin America’s hottest artists: KAROL G.
The Colombia native will be performing at halftime during the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs matchup in São Paulo, Brazil, which tips off Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET and will be streaming on YouTube.
“I’m so excited to be part of YouTube’s first-ever NFL live broadcast; it’s truly an honor and a moment I’m so proud to be part of,” the artist told the league in a statement. “I’ve watched many NFL halftime shows over the years, and now having this opportunity to bring my music to this global stage means the world to me. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in São Paulo and fans all around the world.”
In a collaborative post to Instagram—between YouTube, NFL and the artist—the trio posted two frames of KAROL G, along with a graphic consisting of game day information. For her look, the 34-year-old wore a beaded magenta set, featuring puffed sleeves and satin detailing. For her glam, KAROL G sported shimmery, baby pink eyeshadow and a coral lip to match her outfit.
With a football in her hand in one frame—which she swapped out for a helmet in the consecutive slide—the artist stunned ahead of her newest venture. Several celebs shared their excitement in the post’s comments, including Paris Hilton and Saweetie, who both commented heart-eye emojis.
The announcement comes in the midst of the artist’s soaring career. “Karol is the first Latina artist to ever headline a global stadium tour,” Billboard reported back in March of 2024. The artist then became “the highest-grossing Latin touring artist of 2023,” as the outlet posted her final tally following the completion of her tour in July of 2024: $313.3 million in 65 shows total.
“My album [Mañana Será Bonito] has given me the best memories in my own life, my whole life—my fans that came and enjoyed my album, that gave motivation and inspiration and healed with me. Thank you so much,” the artist beamed during her first Grammy Award win in the Música Urbana Album category for the 2023 album.
In June of 2025, she released her latest body of work: a 20-song album titled Tropicoqueta. And, despite it being released less than two months ago, it has “amassed over 1 billion streams across platforms,” the NFL continued.
Will she perform some of her newest work on stage in São Paulo? Tune into YouTube to find out on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
