Olivia Dunne, LSU Celebrate Fourth Place at NCAA Gymnastics Championships
After placing first at the NCAA semifinal on April 13, LSU and Olivia Dunne finished in fourth place at the NCAA championships this weekend.
The event took place in Texas, and the team ended Saturday’s competition with a final score of 197.525. The No. 6-ranked Tigers were the only team outside the top four to qualify for the Final Four. Ultimately, Oklahoma took the title with a score of 198.3875.
Haleigh Bryant, who made program history last month with a triad of perfect scores in one meet, achieved the best all-around score (39.7250) on Saturday.
“final four on the floor💃🏼,” Dunne captioned an Instagram post on Thursday, April 13 ahead of the competition. She was decked out in a sparkly purple leotard while her heels and ankles were wrapped in athletic tape.
“she does it all👏🏼,” fellow NCAA athlete Hanna Cavinder commented.
“u may be in the final four rn but you’re always number one to me,” one fan gushed.
The team left a heartfelt message on Twitter following its fourth-place victory. “Climbed until the very end,” the LSU gymnastics account wrote. “There’s so much to be proud of and so much to look forward to.”
In another adorable and emotional Instagram video, the gymnasts sang along to Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” while on a big charter bus.
Dunne also shared some iconic mid-routine still photos from the weekend on TikTok, in addition to a sing-along video to SZA’s “Kill Bill.”
